Ayurveda Body Types
In Ayurveda, no two people are alike, or we can say that every person is born with a definite genetic constitution. The basic uniqueness /constitution of the body, which may also be referred to as Doshas, is vital in determining our body type, behaviour patterns, needs, and our predispositions
Ayurveda recognizes each body as a unique body and states that there are three forms of forces, namely Vata Dosha, Pitta Dosha and Kapha Dosha that control various biological functions.
Identifying the Ayurvedic Body Type is a basic fundamental principle for the ayurvedic treatment. For example, the treatment approach for a Vata Body Type will be different from that required for a Pitta Body Type. Thus, the concept of Ayurvedic Body Type needs be respected and taken into account before initializing any treatment.
The Doshas are three forms of forces that work as a team in the body, like executives of an organization and create one's basic uniqueness /constitution of the body.
The basic uniqueness /constitution of each individual are determined at conception. At the time of fertilization, the single male unit, the spermatozoon; unites with the single female element, the ovum. At the moment of this union, the constitution/uniqueness of the individual is determined by the permutations and combinations of bodily air, fire and water that manifest in the parents.
The Doshas are responsible for the arising of natural urges and for individual preferences in foods: their flavours, temperatures and so on. They govern the creation, maintenance and destruction of bodily tissue, and the elimination of waste products from the body.
They are also responsible for psychological phenomena, including such emotions as fear, anger and greed; and for the highest order of human emotions such as understanding, compassion and love. Thus, the energies are the foundation of the psychosomatic existence of man.
When someone consults an Ayurvedic Practitioner, the practioner takes a proper history, performa ayurvedic pulse and tongue examination and the detailed clinical examination from ayurvedic proespective. Then the Practitioner tries to draw inferences about the status of 3 energies in the individual. Based on the inferences about the energies practitioner then develops a customised individual ayurvedic teatment plan for that client.
Three Doshas responsible for uniqueness in the body are:
Vata Body Type
Vata Body Type represents momentum. It is responsible for movements or any type of motion, all the bodily activities and sensations. If there is any kind of motion present in body, it has been due to presence of Vata Dosha.
Blood circulation, movement of food through and through from oral cavity till the excretory product is thrown out is due to Vata, Nerve stimulus, secretion of juices, peristaltic movements are all necessarily attributed to Vata.
When vata Dosha is balanced, there is creativity and vitality. Out of balance, vata produces fear and anxiety. Individuals with a vata dosha are generally thin and find it hard to
gain weight.
Because of this, Vatas have very little energy reserve and can tire easily and get themselves out of balance. Vatas need to get sufficient rest and not overdo things, stay warm, and keep a regular lifestyle routine.
A being with a dominance of Vata dosha paces rapidly, has a thinner body and has cooler and dryer skin than somebody with a dominance of Pitta or Kapha dosha in their make-up.
Vata-type persons too incline to have fast, active brains and could be extremely imaginative. Though, if their composition drives out of equilibrium through unnecessary drive or indiscretion they can undergo from moods of agitation, dullness,
stress and anxiety and nervousness.
This might visible in the physique as reduced blood flow, icy hands and feet, constipation and dull skin.
Pitta Body Type
Pitta Body Type represents high metabolism. Pitta controls digestion and absorption of food.
In balance, pitta leads to contentment and intelligence. Out of balance, pitta can cause ulcers and arouse anger. Pitta-type people are generally of medium size and well proportioned.
They have a medium amount of physical energy and stamina. They also tend to be intelligent and have a sharp wit and a good ability to concentrate. Fire is a characteristic of Pitta, whether it shows up as fiery red hair or a short temper. Since Pittas' body temperature is generally warm, Pitta types can go out of balance with overexposure to the sun.
A being with additional Pitta in their body has a warmer, hotter, more lively individuality. They have heaps of vitality, high motivations, sharp intelligences and respectable management potentials.
Though, if there is balance and their inborn ‘fire’ develops extremely elevated and they could rapidly become irritated, strained and aggravated. They usually consume a durable gastrointestinal fire and immune system but during imbalance they could develop outbreaks, sores, acid guts and heart troubles.
Kapha Body Type
Kapha delivers matter and support to the body by giving power and solidity, both physically and psychosomatically. It improves defiance to illness and endorses the curative procedure.
In balance, kapha is expressed as love and forgiveness. Out of balance, kapha leads to insecurity and envy. Kapha-type people tend to have sturdy, heavy frames, providing a good reserve of physical strength and stamina. This strength gives Kaphas a natural resistance to disease and a generally positive outlook about life.
The Kapha dosha is slow, and Kapha types tend to be slow eaters with slow digestion. They also speak slowly. They are calm and affectionate but, when out of balance, can become stubborn and lazy. They learn slowly, with a methodical approach, but also retain information well with a good understanding of it.
A being with a majority of Kapha dosha in their body is usually slower, weightier, quieter and extra grounded than either Pitta or Vata. They are gentle, affectionate, merciful personalities with a easy-going, laidback nature.
They have durable, hard physiques but can hurt from mass gain, exhaustion and weightiness when out of balance.
How To Balance Vata Pitta Kapha
By an understanding of the abilities inherent in the fundamentals that association to mark up the three Ayurveda doshas one is capable to retain the doshas in equilibrium thus continue healthful, joyful and free from dis-ease. Any extreme rise in some of the makings existing in ayurveda dosh will incline to worsen that dosha and will lead to disproportion.
Therefore, if a largely Vata body-type person develop extremely cold or open to loud, hectic surroundings, person will develop imbalance. If he instantly commences the contrasting qualities of warmness or quietness he will shortly bring back balance situation.
Likewise a Pitta individual, who consumes a majority of hotness, the opposite quality of coolness will produce balance.
A Kapha individual, who has supremacy of mass, will be stable by the opposite characteristic of lightness.
