Chandanadi Thailam Oil or Maha Chandanadi Thailam Ayurvedic Oil
Chandanadi Thailam is Ayurvedic-medicated oil used for relieving heat exhaustion, burning sensation and vertigo or dizziness. It is used by various methods. It can be applied over the scalp for problems related to hair or burning sensation of head. In some diseases of neurological origin, its 2 to 8 drops are instilled in nose. The procedure is known as nasya or nasal instillation. Body massage with this oil is good for people prone to heat and usually have a problem of sunstroke. It is also suggested orally in bleeding disorders, gout and herpes.
Main Ingredients Chandanadi Oil
Santalum album, Pavonia odorata, Nardostachys jatamansi, Emblica officinalis, Glycyrhiza glabra, Hemidesmus indicus, Sida cordifolia are main ingredients of Chandanadi Thailam. These herbs are generally coolant in nature and potency. These are used in various diseases occurred due to excessive heat inside the body or in summer seasonal diseases. The other ingredients are Desmostachya bipinnata, Saccharum spontaneum, Rubia cordifolia, Lotus stamen, Nelumbo nucifera etc.
Ayurveda Pharmacological action of Chandanadi Thailam
Chandanadi Thailam is coolant and pacifies pitta humour as per Ayurveda. When it is applied over the skin or head or gently massaged the affected area, it relieves burning sensation of skin and scalp.
Its nasal administration (nasya) helps to relieve nasal bleeding, headache especially headache with tingling or burning sensation, reeling sensation. It pacifies heat and stops the bleeding from the nose so it is beneficial in nosebleed.
Its internal intake is also useful in gout and other bleeding disorders. It reduces body heat. It is more beneficial if you are experience heat in your feet. In heavy menstrual bleeding, it works on same principle of coolant. In Ayurveda, excessive bleeding is due to excessive heat inside the body so it pacifies pitta and gives relief from heavy bleeding.
